Observations

To be polite and cheerful costs you nothing. But it is essential if you wish to develop your virtuous, good character. Walk around with a smile, not a grimace; greet those who great you, and do not let frustration mar your good character by causing you to snap or be impolite.

Beauty and joy can, and should, be found in the mundane and ordinary. Do not moan and wish the present moment away. There may not be many presents remaining.

The art of the possible is the love of one's fate.

True control, and thus happiness, arises from the mastery of emotion and reactions. Wealth in and of itself, is irrelevant to control and happiness.

Once you are gone, and reverting to your elemental state, the opportunity to live has passed you by.

Futility is trying to alter things over which you have no control.

The train of good habits progresses onward; relentlessly, yet slowly. Falling off does not end your journey, however. The next stop is very close by: you can outrun the train to rejoin it there.

Continually push yourself to grow strong, physically and mentally. Both are crucial.

Focussing on the future or the past is a waste. Your life is lived solely in the present.
